Ok, how am I supposed to get anything done at work when I can't access espn.com? It's not that the powers that be at nameless health insurance company have wised up and blocked it - it's that ESPN has packed so many video advertisements on the edges of the window that my computer locks up whenever I try to open the home page. And this is a sophisticated network, not some dial-up job. Thanks ESPN for decreasing access just so you can get more advertising revenue.
In fact, they've really "jumped the shark" lately. Creating their own bogus award show was bad enough, but taking a quarter of their signature show and dedicating it to arguing the merits of a race car driver or olympic swimmer over a football or baseball player... really? And that whole make-a-wish thing... do people there really misunderstand their target audience so much that they think people want to see that? How many of the college-aged males who watch SportsCenter 8 hours a day want to see a six year-old with a debilitating disease visit Disneyland with Ray Allen?
Don't even get me started on that Insider crap. I thought the internet was about the free flow of ideas - do you really need to charge me to read that the Yankees are trying to trade for another pitcher? Are you that hard up for cash?
Arrgh. I'd boycott, but, really, what else would I do all day? My job? I can get all that I need to get done in 5 hours or less. How am I supposed to fill the rest of my day?
