selection sunday begins january 4th and the revised rules for 2009 include:

1. the worms pick "celebrities"* we think will "take a dirt nap"** in the 2009 calendar year. [the year ends on december 31, 2009 at 11:59pm. jan 1-4th deaths are excluded from the competition.]
2. the draft is 10 rounds, snake style, where your first pick is worth 20 points, second is 18 and so on...
3. until the conclusion of the draft, choices can be submitted 7 days a week from 9am-5pm cst to the commissioners email address. [webmaster @ witlessworm.com]
4. there is a 4 hour time limit, during working hours, to make your selection. if no selection is made one will be selected for you and most likely will be someone you picked in 2008, 2007 or 2006. feel free to submit a list of auto-picks, before jan 4th, to avoid this situation.
5. the worm "on deck", in draft position, will wait for a commissioners ruling on the previous celebrity's status before making their next selection. please be patient.
6. all picks must have some element of celebrity, fame or relevance so that an announcement will be mentioned in some credible news source.
7. no pick may be currently under a state-mandated death sentence, nor may their celebrity or fame be based solely on their morbid state or terminal illness.
8. once a celeb is chosen, no other worm can make that same selection.
9. 2 new rounds have been added this year... round 9-illusionist/reality tv-ist/wrestler and round 10-comedian/ventriloquist/political figure
10. the highest total at the end of the year is the 2009 witlessworm.com celebrity deadpool winner.

*"celebrity status" will be ruled on by the commissioner with an iron fist. if deemed a non-celeb the worm will be back on the clock and need to pick again. the commissioner's ruling can only be overturned by a 2/3rds majority vote by all participating worms.
